Job requirements:
- Matric or years of all-round transformer assembly experience
- Experience in repairs will be advantageous.
- Crane license will be beneficial.
- OLTC experience will be beneficial.
- Must be able to communicate with the supervisors.
- Must be able to follow instructions.
- Must be able to assist with collecting materials from stores.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to assist with all tasks.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- To be detailed oriented.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- A keen sense of urgency and a willingness to learn additional job-related skills.
- Be able to work the night shift, overtime, and at times unsupervised.
- Must have the ability to work with manufacturing terminology.
- Required to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Job responsibilities:
- Tanking and de-tanking of transformers from 315MVA up to 10MVA.
- Identify phase connections (Star & Delta)
- Connections of phases using cable sizes: 50mm, 100mm & 185mm as well as busbars from 20×5 to 100×10.
- Wiring of Buchholz relays, thermometer pockets & CT’s.
- Use a hand drill, angle grinder, drill press, or bench grinder.
- Drain and fill transformer oil into and out of the tank,
- Store tools and machinery as well as housekeeping
