Installation Supervisor

SFG Engineering
Job requirements:
- At least 5 years’ experience in Diesel Generator manufacturing, installation and services.
- A recognized and relevant qualification (N3 – Electrical)
- At least 3 years work experience specifically related to Operations or Production
- Knowledge of fuel systems and fuel storage regulations.
- Qualified Electrician with LV op to 690 V AC experience in synchronization applications. Computer literacy – Windows computer knowledge.
- Experience with MS Office, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint. MS Projects will be an advantage.
- Syspro experience will be an advantage.
- A recognized tertiary qualification is an advantage.
Job responsibilities:
The main purpose of this position is to manage and provide a high service standard to all internal/external customers during the quotation and execution of an order for projects, after sales and diesel services related to external Installations
- Increase services sales revenue for refurbishments, upgrades, after sales and diesel services and potential new revenue streams for service-based business including installation on site.
- Reporting on performance of costs and sales related to Installations external
- Manage in conjunction with Operations Manager, staff responsible for site installation, Technical Services and Diesel Services.
- In conjunction with the Group SHEQ Manager, coordinate the SHEQ initiatives within the site installation areas, being responsible for the implementation and maintenance of SHE and Quality Management Systems in the areas of responsibility
- Take control and effectively manage potential warranty claims. Manage on site modification functions and maintenance.
- In conjunction with the Operations Manager, coordinate the Site and stocking of raw materials and consumables used in Site Installation, and make sure equipment and machinery is properly maintained and promptly repaired
- Manage on site activities were needed, stock take and preservation of products in order to prevent damage and avoid occurrences of pilferage, accidents and occupational hazards in conjunction with Manufacturing/Operations Manager
- Manage distribution of products to clients and couriers in conjunction with Operations Manager
- Maintain high standards of customer service by immediately attending and resolving customer issues on product preparation before dispatch for site installations Produce reports and statistics monthly
- Manage electrical and mechanical subcontractors
- Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
- Assist with technical queries, product launches.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
Administration
- Advising Project Management in a pro-active way on the impact of operational and product selection criteria on commercial aspects of the contract
- Control OMS and Warranty reports
- Health and Safety: Production facilities 16.2.
- Complete and compile Technical, Health and Safety documents
- Complete and compile commercial documents and company information for project submissions and close out purposes
- Control cost schedules and conform to Installation budgets
- Manage control of CPT operations into their overall operational administrative duties related to site installations
- Submit, Installation, Technical Services performance reports
Proposals
- Compile or support the Installation team with simplistic quotations based on quotation templates, where an interim lack of capacity occurs
- Manage the Installation staff for on-time submittal and follow up of quotations
- Seek opportunities by providing quotes and initial quote related designs, this will include visiting potential customers for services revenue growth and upgrades.
- Directly liaison with Engineering for solutions on potential client requirements and respective quotes.
Technical Support
- Support and consult with Engineering Design, Projects, Production and Field Services departments with regard to technical / operational requirements
- Train, mentor and coach technical staff in terms of technical solutions
- Manage and control technical information intended for sharing with customers related to after sales care and diesel services
Projects
- Managing Operational aspects of new/old projects: ” Manufactured Product on time and within budget;
- Keeping control of Installation time frames and staying within budget;
- Mechanical / Electrical Warranty repairs;
- Managing Installation Services Teams overtime and staying within budget;
- Attending site meetings for installation, technical services or diesel services;
- Schedule Workshop Testing and Factory Acceptance Test with Technicians and Customers related to upgrades
- Schedule riggers and confirming all Health and Safety files are in place; ” Schedule respective logistics including IBT
- Keeping record of all Site Installation on file and electronic
- Manage delivery note of all product to site
- Updating digital records on company drive.
- Managing of placing purchase orders on suppliers through relevant company procedures Track status and progress of orders before shipments sent to site

Procurement
- Verifying the technical correctness of ordered item descriptions on documentation
- Ensure correct costing of buyout items conjunction with the Manufacturing/Operations Manager
- Ensure that purchase orders and proforma invoices correspond Tracking shipments to ensure compliance with delivery requirements
Monthly Reports
- Compile KPI Consolidated report for your area of responsibility and upload to OMS
- Submit Installation sales revenue report for Installation,
- Update Installation reports and report on possible budget issues Update Health and Safety records and Report to Group H&S Manager
Specific Requirements/Additional information
- Legal driver’s licence code C1
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and making presentations.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. A sense of urgency with strong customer service orientation.
- Willingness and freedom to travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays away from home base
- Hard working, resourceful, ambitious and have excellent business acumen.
- Position requires out of town, on-site and cross-border travel. Predominantly office based in Cape Town.
- Is subject work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays should the need arise.
- Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
