Company Overview

The Terminal has a number of very large concrete crude oil storage tanks. Any one of these could be receiving product via a ship / vessel from the Saldanha Bay oil jetty. Another tank could be pre-filled with product; tested and released for loading a vessel (ship). Product can then be distributed via the SFF’s loading line and their terminal’s shipping arms / bays. Provision of the company’s operating procedures for these functions will be made available to ensure HSE compliance for our personnel and equipment are not damaged or compromised.

 

Job Overview

The position of Millwright is critical to the efficient operation of the Crude Oil Blending and Storage facility. The Millwright is responsible for assisting all disciplines in the plant i.e., Electrical (MV) and Instrumentation/Control and mechanical.

 

Degree/Educational Requirements:

·         Multidisciplinary tertiary education in Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines, N6, T3 or Btech

·         Minimum Red Seal or equivalent as a Millwright

 

Experience Required:

·         A minimum 15-20 years’ relevant experience in a similar/related position in the oil/gas industry.

·         Practical experience in Oil & Gas facilities especially in Tank Farm operations with product imports via port/terminals and/or shipping lines into onshore storage facilities.

Knowledge Requirements:

 

·         Safety awareness relating to working within an Oil & Gas facility.

·         Light vehicle driver’s license.

·         Understanding of risks related to operating within a Hazardous Classified area.

·         Protocols and procedures for safely working within Hazardous plant areas.

·         Hazardous area classifications

·         LV power systems

·         Medium Voltage power systems

·         HV Regulations

·         Control Systems

·         Basic knowledge of mechanical rotating equipment.

 

Other Requirements:

 

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills

·         Fluency in English

·         Computer literate

·         Strong leadership and influencing skills

·         Able to analyse situations and make effective decisions — especially in emergency situations

·         Willing to work rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays.

·         Prepared to wear personal protective clothing including breathing apparatus with a full-face mask.

·         This job requires that the person is not afraid of heights.

 

Responsibilities:

Following relevant procedures, he/she shall:

·         Assist with plant commissioning and start-up activities

·         Assist the Operations in starting/stopping rotating equipment and any routing testing as may be required.

·         Support preventive and corrective maintenance operations (Level 1) on all instrumentation control system (TAS = Terminal Automation Systems which comprises SIEMENS SCADA, HIMA ESD, E&H ATG, AVENG PLANT FDAS, CCTV, FANG BUILDING F&G) when required including to:

o   Ensure proper follow up of TAS equipment by conducting regular inspections and readings

o   Issue intervention reports and other associated reports related to His / Her area of responsibility.

o   Preparation, planning, and execution of detailed operations on all TAS related installations according to the maintenance planning

o   Rapid intervention on TAS defects to avoid production shutdown.

o   Interpret data readings and report immediately any alteration in TAS status.

o   Assist with selection and appointment of Instrumentation/Electrical service contractors

o   Develop instrumentation and electrical spares strategy and ensure availability of spares as required

o   Develop instrumentation SWP’s; maintenance task lists and JHA’s

·         In charge of maintaining: LV/MV electrical control panels, HVAC, all electrical motors and equipment, electrical networks, alarms and detection installations, cabling and lighting.

·         Actively participates in the PTW (Permit to Work) system with a strong focus on isolations and de-isolations of electrical equipment

·         Ensure that Electrical Regulatory work practices and requirements for entire plant are adhered to

·         Assist with LV and MV switching operations as and when required

·         Assist Mechanical Fitter with mechanical maintenance activities as and when required.
