We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to plan and execute production and project engineering activities in collaboration with the project team
Job requirements:
- B Tech. Mechanical Engineering
- 4-5 years in ship building or similar manufacturing environment
- Shipbuilding, Marine background
Job responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
- Evaluate manufacturing processes, and make recommendations to improve efficiency, quality and safety.
- Develop plans to improve engineering and production costs.
- Manage and execute mechanical engineering associated with the design, engineering, development, modification, handover and commissioning of projects in accordance with established engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirements
- Provide and select technical solutions to meet project requirements and intent
- Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the mechanical engineering activities needed to successfully complete the project
- Plan, execute and supervise mechanical engineering activities in collaboration with other engineering disciplines (structural, electrical and hydraulic)
- Research and specify mechanical equipment for various on-board systems
- Project execution performance: Responsible for project execution as the mechanical technical representative
- Perform fabrication and installation inspections
- Record non-conformances, investigate root cause and propose corrective action
- Conduct equipment commissioning tests
- Ensure project success by adherence to cost, schedule and quality targets for own project scope
- Contract qualified subcontractors to work on the project as appropriate
- Work with project team to execute the project according to the project plan
- Ensure adherence to drawing/technical document control
- Ensure that all project technical information and drawings are updated to as-built
- Facilitate classification society submission process
- Facilitate SAMSA submission and approval process
- Evaluate current mechanical engineering standards, systems and processes, identify weaknesses and provide corrective actions
- Develop standard acceptance testing procedures
