We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to plan and execute production and project engineering activities in collaboration with the project team

 

Job requirements:

  • B Tech. Mechanical Engineering
  • 4-5 years in ship building or similar manufacturing environment
  • Shipbuilding, Marine background

 

Job responsibilities includes but is not limited to:

 

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes, and make recommendations to improve efficiency, quality and safety.
  • Develop plans to improve engineering and production costs.
  • Manage and execute mechanical engineering associated with the design, engineering, development, modification, handover and commissioning of projects in accordance with established engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirements
  • Provide and select technical solutions to meet project requirements and intent
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the mechanical engineering activities needed to successfully complete the project
  • Plan, execute and supervise mechanical engineering activities in collaboration with other engineering disciplines (structural, electrical and hydraulic)
  • Research and specify mechanical equipment for various on-board systems
  • Project execution performance: Responsible for project execution as the mechanical technical representative
  • Perform fabrication and installation inspections
  • Record non-conformances, investigate root cause and propose corrective action
  • Conduct equipment commissioning tests
  • Ensure project success by adherence to cost, schedule and quality targets for own project scope
  • Contract qualified subcontractors to work on the project as appropriate
  • Work with project team to execute the project according to the project plan
  • Ensure adherence to drawing/technical document control
  • Ensure that all project technical information and drawings are updated to as-built
  • Facilitate classification society submission process
  • Facilitate SAMSA submission and approval process
  • Evaluate current mechanical engineering standards, systems and processes, identify weaknesses and provide corrective actions
  • Develop standard acceptance testing procedures
