Sector Specialist – Oil & Gas

Main Purpose The Oil & Gas Sector Specialist will identify new opportunities, build relationships, and drive growth for the company within the Oil & Gas sector.
The purpose is to help the company expand its market share, increase revenue, and secure strategic partnerships. Focus on ensuring the company is well-positioned to capitalize on new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge in the Oil & Gas Sector The targeted customers will include End-Users, Consultants, Project Companies and Contractors, in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development
◼ Maintain existing customer base.
◼ Secure strategic partnerships.
◼ Perform research on market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities. This includes analysing geopolitical influences, and regulatory changes.
◼ Cold calling whenever necessary, scheduled calls on target market and generating new project opportunities for the company
◼ Generate new clients for the company for the Oil & Gas sector
◼ Regularly visiting assigned customers according to planned call schedules
◼ Prepare BD targets, and estimate potential Order Intake per customer and projects
◼ Generate enquiries, RFIs and RFQs, distribute them to the appropriate company Africa BU, and continuously follow up to final adjudication.
◼ Prepare, facilitate and present company, products, solutions and services presentations to the target client base
◼ Meet specified BD targets.
◼ Continuously strive to improve the company’s Africa customer service levels. Administration / Reports
◼ Generate an annual business plan, highlighting developments within the Oil & Gas sector, including strategies to penetrate the market sector, and achieve associated revenue that can be generated through successful strategy implementation
Administration coupled to BD activities:
◼ Customer call reports
◼ Project reports
◼ Monthly Order Intake forecasts
◼ Monthly Order Intake reports
◼ CRM maintenance related to customer data base and project lists.
◼ Assist with client technical queries
◼ Assist with product launches, technical presentations and trade shows
Attending management meetings as and when required
◼ Attend regular BD, Sales and Projects meetings
◼ Constantly communicate relevant project information to the various teams in order to improve opportunities at the manufacturing facilities and project related OEMs
Qualifications and Experience
◼ Matric with an N6/S4 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification will be an advantage ◼ Several years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry, and a network of customers that include End-Users, Consultants, Project Companies and Contractors in Sub-Saharan Africa will be an advantage.
◼ Experience in Oil & Gas exploration, production, transportation and refining will be valuable. ◼ A business management qualification would be an advantage
◼ Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Special Requirements
◼ Legal driver’s licence
◼ Valid passport as international travel may be a requirement
◼ Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
◼ Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and presenting
◼ Must possess the ability to work independently and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant them.
◼ Keep abreast of all developments within the Oil & Gas sector
◼ Perform any other reasonable duty delegated to you
◼ Willingness and freedom to travel within South Africa and Africa
◼ A sense of urgency with a strong customer service orientation
◼ Hard working, resourceful, ambitious and have excellent business acumen
◼ Good negotiating and presentation skills
◼ Experience in travelling within South Africa and Africa would be an advantage
◼ Be able to communicate at all levels with corporate clients
◼ Have a good understanding of how the project environment functions
◼ Have a good understanding of current and future projects in the Oil & Gas sector Working Conditions
◼ Based at JHB South Africa Head Office.
◼ Predominantly out of the office in South Africa
◼ Position may require out of town and Africa travel from time to time
◼ Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays should the need arise.
◼ Required to attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession
