Job Summary: A Storeman is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods within a warehouse or store. This role ensures that stock is handled efficiently, orders are processed accurately, and inventory levels are maintained. The Storeman will also assist with stocktaking and maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Receiving and Inspecting Goods:

Unload deliveries and check goods against delivery notes for accuracy.

Inspect goods for damage or defects and report any discrepancies.

Ensure proper documentation is completed for all incoming orders

 

  1. Stock Control and Inventory Management:

Store goods in an organized manner, following stock rotation procedures.

Maintain accurate stock levels and report low stock to management.

Assist with regular stocktaking and inventory audits.

 

  1. Order Fulfillment:

Pick and pack orders according to customer or internal requirements.

Ensure that all orders are processed and dispatched in a timely manner.

Prepare goods for delivery and arrange for transportation if necessary.

 

  1. Warehouse Organization and Safety:

Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the store or warehouse.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Use appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) for handling goods safely.

 

  1. Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of goods received and distributed.

Update inventory systems to reflect stock changes.

Report any stock discrepancies to the supervisor.

 

  1. Customer Service (if applicable):

Provide assistance to customers or internal teams when required.

Address any issues or concerns related to stock availability.

Requirements:

Proven experience in a storeman or warehouse role (or similar).

Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) is an advantage.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy items.

Basic computer skills for inventory management.

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with inventory management systems or warehouse software.

 

Working Conditions:

This role may require lifting and moving heavy items.

Work will be in a warehouse or store environment, which may be subject to varying temperatures.
