JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Diploma / Certificate in Production or Logistics Management
Experience:
- Experience and knowledge of the industry
- Ability to collect, analyse and use relevant information
- Ability to manage and motivate a workforce
- Ability to remain focused under pressure
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- HR / IR Procedures
- Good all-round technical competence
Job responsibilities:
- Control of Vehicle movement
- Ensuring all client’s requirements are met, including stock requirements
- Effective management of Admin, Workshop, Refrigeration, Yard and Estimating departments
- Planning of movement of work through the yard as per client requirements
- Ensuring yard space is used efficiently
- Daily shift planning and communication of shift plans
- Reconciling client’s bookings per vessel with stock on hand
- Arranging of pre-allocations and surveys
- Daily communication with clients
- Driving customer service
- Communication of company vision, mission and objectives to the team
- Effective team management
- Compliance with OHS Act and Regulations
- Daily inspections of forklifts
- Ensuring safety of yard surfaces
- Container stacks are secure
- Plant and equipment maintenance and safety
- Training and licensing
- Management of all staff records (time sheets, overtime, leave, etc.)
- Asset management (fixed and movable)
- Diesel and activity reports
- Ensure suitable operational procedures are in place
- Ensure Depot sustainability and profitability, whilst managing within agreed budgets
- Budget and management reporting
- Uphold ethical business practices and adhere to all contractual obligations
Specific Requirements/Additional information
Required skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,
percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardised situations.
- Requires good eyesight for container identification and the checking of container stacks.
- Must be able to travel to and from work during, and outside of, normal working hours.
