SFG Engineering

  • Responsible for the fault finding, diagnosis and repair of equipment, as well as the maintenance.
  • Overhaul and commissioning of equipment to satisfy customer needs and expectations.
  • Will be expected to supervise and develop the capacity of team members to maintain and support quality, safety, health and environmental factors
  • Will be required to perform any task of the same job grade or lower that can reasonably be expected of him/her.

  • Mechanical/ Hydraulic Technical Background
  • Knowledge and experience of industrial repair work
  • Provides recommendations and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters.
  • Adhere and comply to Quality Assurance process and standards and seek to continuously improve aforesaid processes and standards.
  • Assess legal requirements and ensure implementation and adherence to all within responsibility area.
  • Implements and manages the Risk management plan according to organizational and operational (Repair and Construction) requirements.
  • Adheres to company risk management policy-business ethics.
  • Provide technical advisory services for safe operation and logistics of machinery in terms of the Fatal Risk Control Protocol.

Execute maintenance systems on equipment for internal and external clients by:

–           Supervision of workshop teams for optimal efficiency.

–           Supervision of mining systems repairs to various equipment promoting a key understanding of the critical components, interfaces and the consequences of repair actions.

–           Active participation in Safety Objectives and the promotion of a safe  work culture.

–           Striving for highest quality of work output whilst balancing the delivery  schedule requirements.

–           Setting and implementing standard operating and control procedures for the department.

–           Compiling condition assessment reports and assisting with job costs and  time estimates.

–           Ability to plan, implement and schedule repair projects and new built.

–           Ensure quality control procedures are in place for work executed

–           Assess areas of maintenance and where outsourcing or partnerships would be appropriate and make recommendations.

–           Plan and manage materials including spares required for the repair work for the workshop as per Material Management Procedures

–           Commission the equipment as per scope of work

–           Collaborate with the relevant stakeholders regarding technical issues to  ensure effective integration with existing application of technology.

–           Assess the requirements in the event of emergency repair and prioritize resources in support of emergency repair plan output.

Continuously monitor and exchange information readily where  appropriate between workshop floor and management.

Develop self and career through setting and achieving personal career goals

Manages and lead subordinates for optimum utilization by:

–    Assessing subordinate performance and implementing corrective measures where necessary.

–    Managing contractor performance and identifying the skills sets for the intended work.

Safety, Health, Security and Environmental Effectiveness

  • Participate and promote applicable legislation, company safety, security and environmental policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
  • Manage and monitor SHE programme goals and objective targets and ensure adherence.
  • Develop and maintain sound working relationships service providers, clients, potential vendors to ensure continued sustainability.

Requirements:

  • MERSETA Trade Test Certificate (or equivalent) with appropriate 3-year apprenticeship: Mechanical Fitter Trade test.  Millwright or Earth Moving will also be considered.
  • 5 to 8 years’ experience post Merseta trade test in engineering maintenance, repair and installation services and support environment.
  • Inclusive of 5 years’ experience supervising industrial work in a Mechanical/Hydraulic Environment
  • Experience in a medium to heavy industrial working environment would be an advantage
