Job requirements:
- Preferred: BSc / MSc Hydrography
- : Degree Survey science, land surveying, marine or nautical science
- Mathematics, computing, nautical & surveying – 2 years’ experience
- Offshore operations – experience
- Kongsberg and QINCY software – knowledge and experience
- Satellite ad underwater positioning – 2 – 5 years’ experience
Sea Going Personnel
- Valid passport
- Valid Seafarers Medical certificate (RSA / NAMIBIA)
- Valid Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) – (RSA / NAMIBIA)
- Seamans Record Book (RSA / NAMIBIA)
STCW (Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping for Seafarers), Courses:
- MFA (First Aid)
- FF (Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting)
- PST (Personal Survival Techniques)
- PSSR (Personal Safety & Social Responsibility)
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
- CSA (Competence in Security Awareness)
Job responsibilities:
SHES (SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, SECURITY)
- Ensure compliance with Group Safety and Security policies
- Complete Risk Assessments on all activities
PRODUCTION
- Manage the on-board software and equipment (satellite & underwater acoustic positioning systems, sonar, multibeam echo sounder, depth sensor and optical gyrocompass equipped ROV; providing real time data and visual information to ROV PILOTS
- Operating specialized technical software and GIS to manage the integration, processing and representation of data to GEOLOGICAL department
- Providing accurate and reliable information for vessel navigation and anchor planning
- Maintain all mining system navigational equipment including trouble shooting faults such as electrical dispersion, optical fibre and serial communication
- Manage planned maintenance, repairs and mounting/dismounting relevant equipment
- Responding to technical queries on board and problem solving
REPORTING
- Manages daily and monthly reporting as directed
- Generates breakdown reports with suggested remedial actions
