We are looking to secure the services of a Field Service Technician to join the Cape Town office. All suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for this vacancy.

The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Installation and Commissioning of Navigation and Communication systems
  • Fault-finding and Repairing
  • Surveys
  • Programming of Safety equipment

We invite applications from candidates who meet the following minimum criteria:

(Experience on JRC/ ALPHATRON equipment)

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics or Equivalent qualification
  • GMDSS Certificate
  • GMDSS General Operator Certificate

 

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years working with the following systems/equipment:

  • Radars (X band or S band)
  • Gyro compass
  • Auto-Pilot
  • AIS
  • GMDSS Equipment
  • ECDIS
  • (S)VDR

Required skills:

  • Ability to perform Radio Survey – Incl. GMDSS, EPIRB, AIS & SSAS Inspection
  • Ability to perform (S)-VDR Annual Performance Test
  • Ability to perform Full VDR Annual Performance Test
  • Ability to perform Gyro Annual Service
  • Willingness to embrace and learn new technology
  • Willingness to travel outside South Africa.
  • Willingness to relocate to Qhebera, Durban or Richards Bay when necessary.
