Job Overview
The Rotating equipment Fitter/Specialist is primarily responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance activities for rotating equipment such as pumps, (multi-stage and other) and engines. They ensure the availability and integrity of the installed systems and equipment in terms of safety and reliability.

Educational Requirements:
• Education in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum trade tested, preferred Diploma

Experience Required:
• A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in a similar position in the oil/gas industry
• Practical experience in Oil & Gas facilities especially in Tank farm operations with product imports/exports

Knowledge Requirements:
• Advanced knowledge of rotating equipment maintenance & operations
• Detailed knowledge of pump Mechanical seals and maintenance thereof
• Safety awareness relating to working within Oil & Gas facility
• Light vehicle drivers’ license
• Understanding of risks related to operating within a Hazardous Classified area
• Protocols and procedures for working within Hazardous plant area

Other Requirements:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Fluency in English
• Computer Literacy
• Able to analyze situations and make effective decisions- especially in emergency situations
• Strong leadership and influencing skills
• Prepared to wear PPE on site and do standby duties
• The job requires the person to work at heights and a fitness assessment is required

Responsibilities:
Following maintenance procedures, he/she shall:
• Acts as stand in for Maintenance Lead during times of absence as and when required
• In charge of monitoring and maintenance of critical rotating equipment and diesel engine routine checks as determined by OEM
• Visual daily checks of the condition of critical rotating equipment
• Collect running parameters for apparatus and machines
• Participation in equipment dismantling, inspection, repair, and reassembly.
• Responsible to verify the lubrication oil levels and top up as necessary all critical rotating equipment
• In charge of monitoring and maintenance of all critical rotating equipment filters and strainers
• Assists with weekly test run of firewater pumps & Jockey pumps or as determined by the maintenance routines.
• Performs level 1 & 2 maintenance on equipment under management of Maintenance Lead.
• Assist the Maintenance Lead with the preventive & routine maintenance on all associated Terminal equipment with emphasis on critical rotating equipment
• Assists with selection and appointment of mechanical maintenance service contractors as and when required
• Assist with the development of mechanical spares strategy and ensure availability of spares as required especially relating to rotating equipment
• Provide mechanical advice to the business to support long term growth and development
• Assist with plant commissioning and start-up activities as and when required
• Taking of work permits and participates in mechanical isolations required.
• Responsible for housekeeping in the mechanical workshop
