Senior Commercial Manager

SFG Engineering
We are seeking a Commercial Manager to participate in the strategic growth, business development and management of commercial activities including project logistics for Africa.
The role is purposefully to grow the business organically, with a specific focus on East Africa, to become a respected fully integrated freight and logistics service, provider.
The successful candidate needs to display leadership qualities that encourage innovation, collaboration and forward-thinking, promoting the success of all divisions within the Company.
Reporting line:
Divisional Chief Executive
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:

- Management and growth of the Project Logistics Team
- Development of Cross Border and Project Logistics business and maintaining existing relationships
- Building and maintaining strong and sustainable customer relationships to ensure exposure and increased sales
- Financial Management and Administration of new business
- Proactively provide smart client research and industry-specific information
- Overseeing, maintaining, and improving processing systems and ensuring quality
compliance to internal ISO systems
- Monitoring company performance against service level agreements.
- Ensuring processes and procedures comply with legislation, customer requirements, as well as operational demands
- Motivating and coaching staff, encouraging team building and increasing staff morale
- Training and development of commercial team
- Effectively controlling and reporting on expenditure.
- Developing and providing annual budget recommendations for the company business unit
- Qualification:
- B Com Degree in Commerce or Business Management
- Post Graduate Qualification in Logistics
- Bachelor of Law or LLB will be advantageous
Experience:
10 Years or more in:-
o Cross Border Logistics
o Project Logistics and Heavy Lift
o International Shipping
o Customs Clearing
o Supply chain Management
o Commercial, sales and marketing
5 Years or more in:-
o Senior Management Experience
o Leading teams within Africa
o Coordinating and managing global logistics projects
o Working in a cross-functional team
o Contract Law or International Shipping and Logistics Legal experience
o Project Chartering and Fixtures experience will be advantageous
o Data Analysis and Reporting
o SHEQ/Risk Management
- Must have own motor vehicle and valid driver’s license
Required skills:

- Strong problem-solving ability and identification of departmental needs and potential threats
- Able to travel extensively in Africa as and when required
Passport,
- Ability to converse in basic Portuguese, Italian or French will be advantageous
- Knowledge of systems and processes involved in logistics
- Sub-contractor or management and tender management
- Contracting and legal principles and compliance
- In-depth knowledge in logistics elements for complex and high-value projects.
