Attorney

We have a position for a Qualified Attorney  (not necessarily currently practicing) to work as an in-house legal counsel within a mining company.

Start date:  ASAP

Duration:  Contract to permanent

Salary:  Please inform monthly salary required

 

Qualification:

LLB Degree.

5-10 years working experience

Admitted as an Attorney in South Africa.

 

Requirements:

 

South African Mining Law Experience (not negotiable)

Police Clearance (not older than 1 year)  (can be done at Nevetec – 48 hour – 021 – 911-5011)

Valid Passport

Covid 19 Vacc Card

Travel to Angola (Luanda) on an ad hoc basis

The purpose of the role will be to objectively and independently support Exco on all legalities of  projects aspects, corporate, industry legislation and compliance related functions:

Responsible for ensuring that the applicable local regulations and legal requirements are met and complied with across the operation.

Contract drafting and reviewing

Managing litigious and non-litigious disputes.

Responsible for managing external legal counsel relationships on behalf of the Organisation.

Responsible for all internal legal document management and oversee company secretarial functions across the organisation, including Data Room management and oversee company secretarial functions across the organisation.

The administration, creation and enforcement of policies, procedures, and programmes relating to the Project employees (human resource function) including but not limited to assistance with disciplinary procedures.

Compile and control legal budget.

 

Skills:

 

Have a minimum of 5 years relevant post-admission experience in South Africa

Have the ability to provide innovative legal service solutions to the Company and strategic needs

Have a strong ability to research legal questions and prepare sound legal opinions

Have strong experience in the rendering of South African corporate law services as we as regulatory services

Have good presentation skills

Have a good command of the English language and effective drafting skills
