Marine Design Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

Support the operations of the Company by ensuring the Designing objectives and functionality are achieved. The Design engineer will be responsible for the research and design of the Company’s new products and systems

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Study a design brief
• Brainstorm a collection of possible solutions.
• Research whether a design will be feasible.  This process should assess the practicality of fabrication as well as the cost efficiency of the idea
• Create complete 3D prototypes of the suggested design concepts.  These prototypes should incorporate different materials and fastening systems to closely resemble the final real-world manifestation.
• Perform Finite Element Analysis to the prototype to collect data pertaining to the feasibility of the design.
• Write reports detailing the findings from the FEA and present them to the engineering team
• Modify designs as required and repeat the FEA/reporting process until all relevant parties are satisfied with the design proposal.
• Get material quotes to create and submit budgets for approval.
• Aid, as instructed, with any tasks that might arise

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Diploma/BTech/BSc in engineering, preferably mechanical.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience relevant experience in the Marine industry
• Knowledge of AutoDesk Inventor
• Knowledge of AutoDesk AutoCAD
