Report to: Design Engineer

Duration: 3 month Contract

Job Purpose

Plans and prepares detail and layout drawings for projects from client and engineers’ specifications. Calculates and establishes principle dimensions where such dimensions are critical in relation to other components, strengths or form. Prepares complex designs, drawings and layouts working from engineering specifications using AutoCAD.

Duties and responsibilities of the post / principle areas of accountability

  1. Plan and prepare detail and layout drawings for projects
    • Determine what drawings are required from the scope of work and client specifications.
    • Confirm above with project manager.
  2. Draw and design
    • Check client requirements against relevant codes for each drawing.
    • Refer to catalogues for specifications and limitations.
    • Refer any unachievable specifications to the Project Manager.
    • Complete drawing, including a complete and accurate Bill of Materials
    • Perform information gathering on site by means of inspection and measurements where required.
    • Check dimensions and calculations and send to another draughtsman for further check.
    • Submit batch of completed drawings by deadline to Project Manager for approval.
    • Submit approved drawings to Document Controller.
    • Do revisions as directed by client.
    • Develop fabrication and assembly instructions to maximize the utilization of material and productivity of labour. Advise site management accordingly.
  3. Job specification
    • Qualification required:
      • NTC 3 Mechanical Drawing.
      • AutoCAD diploma.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of eighteen (18) months mechanical draughting experience.
    • I.T Skills:
      • AutoCAD intermediate skills (2D)
      • MS Word basic skills
      • MS Excel intermediate skills
      • MS Outlook advanced skills
