Experience:

Diamond process plants on mining or offshore installations

Managerial/supervisory

10 Years’ experience

SCADA & PLC systems

Heavy Metal Process Design Experience

 

Job Purpose:

The Metallurgist is responsible for the efficient operation of the process plants on the sampling and mining vessels, and ensuring procedures conform with Group standards and policies.

They are responsible for giving the Executive assurance that the sampling and mining process plants are optimized and ensures quality control and improvements to plant design and equipment to maximise plant efficiencies.

It is an office-based position with the METALLURGIST expected to spend 50% of their time at sea roving between the vessels.

Seamans Record Book (RSA / NAMIBIA)

STCW (Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping for Seafarers), Courses:

MFA (First Aid)

FF (Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting)

PST (Personal Survival Techniques)

PSSR (Personal Safety & Social Responsibility)

HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)

CSA (Competence in Security Awareness)

 

Key Performance Areas:

Safety, Health, Environment, Security:

Ensure compliance with Group Safety & Security policies

Complete Risk Assessments on all activities

Ensure compliance with Permits to Work (Hot Work etc)

KPI: – Zero LTIs Zero environmental incidents – Zero findings or deviations

Production:

Directs & coordinates the efficient & safe operation of the sampling & mining plants according to Group policy & procedures

Ensures sampling & mining plant targets are met

Schedule sampling & mining plant maintenance in conjunction with OTMs

Ensuring all statutory documentation pertaining to diamond recovery is compliant

Product quality control for sampling & mining plants

Planning & implementation of all process plant test work & relevant tracer tests

Training & development of plant personnel

Implementation of planned continuous improvement

KPI: 85% availability of relevant equipment – Zero deviations or findings

Reporting:

Manage daily and monthly Plant reports from ships

Internal reports on continuous improvement

KPI: Quality and timely reporting – Zero deviations or findings

 

HR:

Plan and schedule Plant team rotations in conjunction with OSMM/OSM

Manage plant personnel placement, training, personal growth and development

Ensure Plant team performance evaluations are done as directed
