Job Requirements:

  • Matric
  • National Diploma in Engineering and/or equivalent experience in manufacturing related areas
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing management, preference given to power transformer manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing experience on transformers up to at least 10 MVA 33 kV is essential.
  • Computer literacy – good general computer knowledge and experience in Microsoft office.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and making presentations.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Hard working, resourceful, ambitious and have excellent business acumen.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising the production of new and repair Transformers, switchgear and related products in the Power Transformer Factory (mainly >33kV and/or 10MVA).
  • Manage the electrical production facility in Heidelberg including Winding, Stacking,
  • Assembly, Tanking areas and dispatch
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are up to date and in line with WTD, The aim is to have continues improvement in the factory.
  • Facilitate communication between the sales teams, contracts, other manufacturing divisions, health and safety, planning, purchasing, stores and engineering.
  • Ensure healthy communication with the procurement department for ordering and stocking of material, especially material not included in the BOM, equipment and items required for manufacture.
  • Responsible for manufacturing quality product, at the right quality while controlling cost incurred and managing efficiencies.
  • Ensure production schedules are followed and prioritise any production schedules as the need arises, be fast and flexible should material or other delays force a change in schedule.
  • Plan, oversee and manage production staff work schedules, training and safety requirements.
  • Work with after sales, quality and training teams to minimise rework and warranty claims.
  • Work diligently on NCR’s and the honest completion thereof to eliminate repeat quality problems going forward.
  • Ensure that the necessary OSHACT and SANS standards are adhered to where applicable.
  • Perform any other reasonable duty delegated to you for the promotion of our business.
  • Maintain discipline.
  • Responsible for: time keeping, overtime, productivity, discipline, 5s, safety, staff motivation, disciplinary actions and other production related matters at the factory.
  • Generate reports relating to production activities, and report back to management.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement proper actions in order to reach targets.
  • Develop and review standards in line with the applicable ISO and group standards for the production operation.
  • Ensure that the factory complies with ISO 9001 and enforce continuous improvement according to company policy.
  • Predominantly Factory based.
  • Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays should the need arise.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
