Job requirements:

  • Matric
  • Formal electrical qualification – recognized apprenticeship/diploma will be an advantage.
  • Experience in Variable Speed Drives, Switch-gear, Electric Panels, and Electric Motors sales and related products.
  • Extensive experience in the sales field.
  • Good level of computer literacy, specifically MS. Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Good negotiating and presentation skills.

 

Job responsibilities:

Main Purpose

The main purpose of this position is to develop strong relationships with customers and to bring in inquiries, follow up on quotations, and successfully negotiate orders as well as maintain existing customer relationships and develop new ones.

 

 Sales

  • Direct selling to customers and generating new sales leads.
  • Visit assigned customers according to planned calling schedules.
  • Prepare budgets, estimated potential and planned profitability per customer.
  • Actively promoting the sales of Variable Speed Drives, Switch-gear, Electric Panels, and Electric Motors sales to existing customers and researching new market opportunities.
  • Obtain inquiries, prepare quotations, and follow up to conclusions.
  • Develop leads on other company Products.

 

 Reports

  • Submit a monthly sales report.
  • Maintain an updated customer database.
  • Obtain information on competitors’ products, pricing policies, and business strategies.

General

  • Assist with technical queries.
  • Assist with product launches, technical presentations, and trade shows.
  • Attend regular Sales and Projects meetings.
  • Perform any other reasonable duty delegated to you.

 

Specific Requirements/Additional Information

  • A legal driver’s license.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English and Afrikaans language.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and making presentations.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.
  • A sense of urgency with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Willingness and freedom to travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays away from home base.
  • Hard-working, resourceful, ambitious, and have excellent business acumen.
  • Be able to negotiate and close deals.

 

Working Conditions

  • Out of the Office and requires out-of-town travel.
  • Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays should the need arise.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
