Service Engineers – Durban & Cape Town

Job Requirements:

• Qualified Diesel Fitter / Diesel Mechanic (Red seal) with extensive experience in high & medium speed as well as two-stroke engines and generator pumps, filters, radiators & coolers
• Clear criminal record
• Preferably have own tools
• At least 5 years experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of the marine industry would be a distinctive advantage.
• Display high attention to detail, and a positive & self-motivated attitude.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Good computer, written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform service, repairs, and overhauls on high & medium speed as well as two-stroke engines and generators, pumps, filters, radiators & coolers in the workshop & on-site according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Dismantle, clean, and prepare engines, turbos & components for inspection, and compile basic failure reports with recommendations.
• Assemble & overhaul engines & components once parts are received.
• Removal & installation of fuel pumps and injectors on all engines
• Take accurate measurements on all components for reuse.
• Perform welding and basic fabrication tasks on equipment where required.
• Ensure the highest standard of housekeeping in the workshop, tool store, and on-site daily.
• Completion of accurate and detailed timesheets, and handover of all relevant paperwork for jobs. Compilation of high-standard service reports
• Drive and display the highest health & safety standards in the workplace and on-site.
• Willing to work away from home as well as overtime when required.
